There were positives to TBBT, and negatives. I admit though I've never been a huge fan of Leonard's mother. I certainly like the new interactions she brings as a character, and Christine Baranski on the whole is fabulous, but the Sheldon/Beverly thing has always just annoyed me. I'm not squicked, just... it just seemed weird that they went there, even in TMC.
I really have to edit my post here, because I actually did like it a lot more upon rewatch. And I quite love Beverly, so ... yes, must edit review. Surprisingly, the non-kiss didn't bother me at all.
Oh I admit, on first viewing I was basically "meh". I did like it a lot more on repeated viewings. I find that in most cases though with TBBT and an episode I don't quite love as much as the others. You can usually find the hidden good stuff and concentrate on the subtleties rather than just following the jokes/plot/etc.
The kiss didn't bother me either. As I said, I'm not squicked by them. Mostly I don't like Sheldon when he around someone too similar to himself - it brings out all the epic neuroses in him, and makes him all hard edges and not enough gooey centre (god, I can't believe I just wrote that, but I hope you get what I mean, lol).

Oh, and upon rewatch, I actually enjoyed all but the drunk-Beverly scenes a lot, lot more.

Also, not enough Howard and Raj!

I totally get what you're saying; I guess for me, Beverly actually shows how much warmer Sheldon is.
