We guess these screen tests went well, as "Dancing with the Stars" pro dancer and country singer Julianne Hough has now landed the lead female role in Paramount's remake of Footloose. The casting is contingent on the studio and Hough working out scheduling, but she would star opposite Chace Crawford

That honestly seems like they wanted to cast Zac Efron and couldn't get him, so they were like... "Chace looks just like him, that works too!"

Though IDK, maybe Chace has some serious song-and-dance-man chops or something.

Oh, I agree completely. They wanted him, but he didn't want to be pigeon-holed as the song/dance guy -- which I can understand. I hope CC surprises us.

I'm really happy to hear that I wasn't the only one not impressed with the original version of Footloose. But I do love the big ending dance scene though.
