So, not what I thought this was going to be. (Saw this on sunnytyler001's lj and had to snag.) I'm not overly impressed with the female, but Fillion is AWESOME!!!

I'm not able to watch at the moment (no speakers on this computer), but I'm curious... a friend of mine got the Pilot months ago, through her screenwriting work. I hear it's a rather shameless, watered down/network rip-off of Californication, which surprised me (mainly because Rob Bowman is involved). I'm curious, what are your thoughts on the premise?

Edited to add: I don't throw the term "rip-off" around lightly in the creative world, but apparently the Pilot script for Castle actually mimics/lifts exact lines from Cali, which is pretty hard to ignore. I'm not sure whether those survived the cutting room, hence my curiosity.

I haven't watched Californication beyond the second episode, I've seen nothing of this show, Castle beyond this trailer. Based on this trailer, it looks like a fun-light-hearted take on an odd-couple/buddy-cop/with-not-a-cop movie, in addition to a will they/won't they couple kinda show. What the show will really be like, I have no clue, but based on this trailer other than the fact that Castle and Moody are both writers, it doesn't appear to have anything in common.

Hmm, interesting. I'm not going to be watching, personally (I do love Fillion, but now that I've seen the video I'm really not interested, and he's not an actor I'm willing to watch in anything), but perhaps some things changed in development. *shrug* I do know said friend found it pretty shameless at the time, so maybe someone in production wised up along the way.

OMG, how did I not know about this??? Thanks a zillion for posting this Jen.

While I agree that the chick didn't exactly "wow" me, I do think she might grow on me. But Nathan Fillion is just....a;flkahieh. GUH. Could that man be any funnier or more attractive if he tried?? This whole idea is absolutely MADE OF WIN. He so deserves this so I hope it is a worthy vehicle that gets him the kudos he so richly deserves.

ABC, you've ruined my Pushing Daisies, Grey's has gone off the deep end, and you've kept Lost from us for a year. You better not frak this one up.

I'm glad I introduced this to someone, hee!!

Nathan just looks adorable and awesome in this so far. Is it bad, that a part of me kinda hopes they recast the chick? Yeah, probably won't happen. Ah well. Maybe you're right, she'll grow on us.

Still, woohoo!!! Nathan!!!

I like the woman. Mainly because she seems to click with Nathan. Hard to say more from the clip collection that is this promo, but I think they do have something there.

Of course this is the show that has been done to death on TV. Solving crimes, bickering partners, one is a control freak while the other is out of control, one's a professional while the other is an outsider who is smarter than most professionals... It's been done, in fact, it's about half the shows on TV right now. But... I don't care. I like Nathan enough to give him a chance at anything, and he can certainly carry things on sparkle alone. lol.

God, I hope it's not anything like Californication, though! You know how I feel, and I so do want to watch Nathan. lol.

Oh, I think they show a spark, but, well, we'll see. She could turn out to be fabulous.

Yup!

Honestly, the trailer looks and sound NOTHING like Californication, other than the Castle character and Hank Moody are both writers.

No, my comment was in response to the concerns that this is, supposedly, a rip-off that show. Which, I fervently hope, not. :) Other than that, yeah, from what I see in this preview, it's not a concern at all.

Oh, I know I was addressing those concerns with what I knew from this trailer, LOL!
