When she said "mummy won't close her eyes," I teared up, and that's all thanks to Catherine Tate's acting skills.
That part killed me, oh my god. It was a moment that could have so easily gone wrong or been stupid and over the top but I totally bought it coming from Catherine Tate.
So, yes, call me a silly shipper, but it bugged me because while I'm fine with the Doctor having his little dalliances, at this stage in the game, it's been set up throroughly that Rose is special.
Wear your shippiness with pride, girl! And I do agree that most Moffat episodes always sort of exist in their own little continuum because they so rarely fit into the established arc of a season.
As I stated above there wasn't enough plot to sustain two episodes. I TOTALLY agree. There was a lot going on, but I think the episode would have worked much better as a 1 hour, or maybe a 1.5 hour deal or even if the episodes had been shown together in a block. The plot line was too predictable to sustain a two-parter because people had a week to speculate about all
( ... )
Catherine Tate is just so, so, soooooooooooo good. I can't believe now that I was worried about if I'd like her or not.
Oh, I do wear my shippiness with pride, I just like to warn people that is where my POV is coming from.

Right. That's the main reason I wrote my latest Who post.
Forget the predictability of it; it really should have been tighter; and again, the whole tinge of, River Song being something so special could (and should) have been dropped completely. Yes, you fanwanked it to work for me, but for most watching it, it just came across that she was the most important human to him ever. And, damnit, that position belongs to Rose. Grrrr.
