Final 'Veronica Mars'

I didn't watch it, but I discuss what others have and so there are spoilers. I'm not happy, but I'm actually a lot more content than I expected to be based on spoilers. Don't get me wrong, I still think the L/V story from the Madison thing (minus Heather) sucked BIG-TIME, but considering how much it sucked, I'm pretty durn okay with how it ended ( Read more... )

I pretty much agree with the take you've gotten from what you read. I actually missed it the first time, because I was watching with a group of people and I tend to miss things when I'm not watching alone (I end up paying attention to other people's reactions and forgetting to watch myself), but I rewatched when I got home. The look L/V share was very telling, I thought, especially contrasted with Piz's expression in the background and then the very different look Piz and Veronica share after Logan walks away ( ... )

I didn't see the look between L and V at the end, but will take your word for it. I don't know if I can bring myself to see it again ( ... )

I'm moving, so don't have the time now, but I may later this summer. I'm gonna have to find someone who downloaded it, so they can tell me the exact times on the non-commercial parts of the Logan scenes so I can clip those.

Someone uploaded that last scene here. It's imbellished a bit, with some music and some slow-mo, etc., but I think it shows it pretty clearly.

Interesting. I haven't watched any of the standalones yet but I will at some point. It sounds like it's not quite as bad as we were expecting and I do like the fact that the ending is noir and bleak. (not the pizness part of course). Anyway it's done. Chapter finished, book closed.

I'm happy for JD that he seems light and free from the Breakout reports and I'm hoping he lands a new role soon.

Yeah, it does sound like it wasn't nearly as bad, still not great by any stretch, but we were left with a clear indication that V/P were gonna be over soon and that L/V will be together again with Veronica finally woken up and Logan in a better place.

I wandered over here because I wanted to see how you felt about the finale...I actually watched it, first time I've watched since it returned from hiatus, and I agree with your take on it. Yeah, I'm unhappy that their last scene ever is such a brief one. But, it didn't feel like they were closing the door on L/V at all, so that pleased me, plus Logan somehow seemed freer than he has all season in that fight scene. And yeah, the look on Piz's face is one of realization - he sees the look on Veronica's face when she's watching Logan leave, and he sort of "gets" it ( ... )

Ewww, bad detail. Yuck. Yuck.

maybe I'm just satisfied enough because I had pictured worse scenarios in my head for them to go out on, and this wasn't too bad

Exactly. I think that's it right there. It could have been -- and I was expecting -- SO much worse.

Considering what we dreaded, I say this is as satisfying an ending we could have gotten given the way the season went. And you are right, RT would have never had Veronica actually verbalize the realization, not even in a voiceover. But -- shocker! -- I thought KB did a good job of showing it with her face.

No, LoVe is not over. And Logan wasn't compared to Aaron. Considering these were my two biggest fears, I am actually pretty okay. LOL. Now, the rest of it was crap, but that's something I no longer care about. :)

Right, and now I can have two versions of canon. The happy ending together mix you know of and then this one for when I'm feeling bittersuite and hopeful that my mind can make up a much better ending with the lovely, completely unexpected and quite welcome opening that RT and KB did give us in their final scene. I NEVER would have expected that.

I NEVER would have expected that.

I know. I am wondering now about that phrase in the script, "paradigm shifts." Remember that? We thought it would be when Veronica sees that Logan is just like Aaron. Turns out, she sees something completely different. :)

Yup. (And duh, sweet, not suite! What was I thinking?)

It certainly turned out a lot better than I thought. I wasn't planning on watching the last 5 but caved at the last moment. Everything did come full circle to Season 1 except that a) Logan is in a much better place and has greater 'self love' as you described b) Veronica is more aware of her weaknesses, including the effects of these on her relationships with Keith, Wallace and Logan c) Keith made the conscious decision to risk losing the sheriff position rather than being ousted from power with absolutely no control at all. While the effects have potentially serious and unfortunate ramifications, viewers can be left with the satisfaction of imagining whatever fortunate or unfortunte repercussion follow. I felt that the open noir ending was thus more satisfying than I would have imagined.

Pretty much, yeah, exactly. Now if only Rob had worked on the whole season this way, sigh ... hey, at least, we have "The Bitch is Back."
