I will totally flail over Caprican Times. I love it so much. And Dystopia as well. Both amazing AUs where the characters still come through magnificently.
Mostly I loved that she loved the painfully ugly side of life that Bill and Laura where forced to deal with a try to love each other through and in spite of. Like all good art, her writing made you think and feel long after you read the words on the page.
I forgot to say how I laugh at the most inappropriate things in Frak's fics. Lee in Battlefield Cross? I was ROFL! But I also feel like I'm allowed to laugh. That's very clever.
What's my favorite Frak piece?... I suppose you also want to know which member of my family I'd save from a burning building. How do you answer a question like that?! :-D
Okay, well. Everybody loves the Caprican Times AU, and I personally will always admire tat!fic... but this is the drabble comm, so I think I will just point out that Tahara perfectly captures what I think of as the Essence of Frak. Her smut is magnificent, but I think her true genius lies in the tragic. (Much as it pains me to say it, sigh. Her very best work always feels like a steel-toed boot becoming acquainted with your kidney.)
Frakcancer's fics were the first ones I read in this fandom which really impressed me. I hope she is just on hiatus and will return to us shortly. Please!
I honestly don't think I've ever read a drabble or longer fic by Frak and disliked it. She has such an incredible range of work and always took such an interesting spin on the weekly challenges. I hope that she starts writing here actively again as well, I really miss her. :( Also, her comments were always very amusing and insightful, I always really appreciated her feedback because it often inspired a thoughtful and/or hilarious conversation. :D
Yes, she always had an interesting spin on the challenges. Just when I'd think they were a fluffy prompt, she'd turn them dark. Just when I'd think they were dark, she'd turn them into something as fluffy as she could get.
