I really love that Laura wants to burry Billy in the ground. Sad that that ground will come to be so utterly despised and he'll be left here though. But I do see Laura wanting some "proper" closure for Billy.
And that last. Ouch. Survival of the fittest. Something Laura always seemed to understand with ruthlessness and Bill, not so much.

I thought about that, and that Laura doesn't seem all that sold on NC as their final, new home. But it's earth and sunlight and it's now. Seeing others move on means it's time for her to do so as well.

It hits hard here that the first days on New Caprica would have been so happy and full of hope, and that they all would have seen this as a long-term home. That Laura and Bill and the rest saw this as a place to set down roots (and Billy's burial really nails that) makes the outcome so much sadder. Nicely done.
For all her doubts, something made Laura move down to the planet and plow forward. It seems right to bring Billy with her. He would be a fitting caretaker for those they would leave behind on New Caprica.
Awwww, Grandpa Bill! A much better image of Bill with baby than we got in canon. I have to FF every time Bill tries to kill Baltar's vision of baby Hera...... *shudders*
*sniff* Poor Billy! :(
Nodding, she didn't bother to correct him as she watched Dee and his son wander off together. Survival was a ruthless business.
Ouch. Twist that knife in there just a little more.
I am evil (see above) since I laugh and laugh at Bill drowning the baby. Only EJO could do with such casual efficiency as to make it utterly terrifying.

Yes to EJO's brilliant acting but NO to drowning of babies. Laura said that we need to make them, not drown them!!!!!
I love how Laura takes Bill's hand, knowing he's emo about people leaving Galactica.
He would make a nice grandparent, I'm sure. :)
I love the idea of Laura burying Billy somewhere. I've never thought about what happened to him after she saw him in the morgue. All those funerals they showed...but no Billy!
Dee and Lee...not saying anything is probably best.
One of the many missing scenes in the series for me was Dad nagging the kids relentlessly for grandkids. Gods, he was having kittens about Chief's spawn, what would he have done for a whee Kara or Lee?

Yeah, poor kid was literally swept under the rug, with Dee moving right along when he's barely cold. Now I'm sort of obsessed with the idea--what did they do?

I'm a week late! But I had this idea and darnit, was going to do it!
Uh and yes, was evil. I was going to do more with the 'Bad Day' prompt but thought it was better to leave it in spirit in the drabble. :D

Yes, let us not speak of it.
