I think this is the line from which the whole piece hangs. Bill doesn't really give a frak about Baltar's case, and he knows (based on what he said to Laura in the famous Rack Scene) that Baltar's not going to hand them any ammunition to use against him. But he'd put Baltar through any and every kind of torment if it would only shed a little light on the things Laura won't talk about.

It’s a better job than President.

I'm starting to think that even tylium jockey was a better job than President, heh.

Ooh! The Old Gods die hard! :-) Though in fairness, that was Adama's line, not Baltar's.

I did help to threaten Baltar's live, I admit it. But at least I believe that's in canon. I swoon every time Bill offers to kill him for Laura.

Bill doesn't really give a frak about Baltar's case, and he knows (based on what he said to Laura in the famous Rack Scene) that Baltar's not going to hand them any ammunition to use against him. But he'd put Baltar through any and every kind of torment if it would only shed a little light on the things Laura won't talk about.

So often on the show, Bill and Laura put the Fleet first. In fanfic, we can allow them to get something for each other. Bill needs another session with Baltar to gain a bit more information, something he and Laura need.

With all the Baltar hate out there, people forget that the reason he was thought of as a genius is because he *is* a genius. He may be a slimeball nutjob, but he's a brilliant slimeball nutjob. He watches, he analyzes, and he processes the information.

And he gets even strong men to back down. He can be bent, but he's never broken.

I did kill me to make Baltar the truth teller in this drabble, but I agree, he's not an idiot. And as self-absorbed as he is, he's also very observant. Why not use those observations to fight back? After all, he'll never win a physical battle with Adama.

The thought of Baltar playing cupid almost makes me gag. I mean, he was such a sucess with his own love life wasn't he? And that last line. So sarcastic. Baltar maybe needs to keep getting in the last word? (I don't like that I have this in common with him.)

I do like the thought that Bill was concerned about Laura's reaction to Baltar turning up and tried to find out the entire extent of what happened to her in NC detention.

I hope she told him in the end. *sigh*

I tell you, it killed me to write this! And somehow the little frakker was able to hold his own. But one thing makes Bill vulnerable, and it's Laura. :(

It makes me think about what really happened to Laura when she was in detention. I mean I don't believe that the Cylons left her unharmed.

I'm interested in the possibilities of what happened on New Caprica to Laura. Even just living in fear of what could happen can be very traumatic. And I think for Bill, it's the not knowing that's killing him, not even what it could be.

But I believe Baltar when he says he doesn't know. He kept telling that to Laura about Saul down on NC.

Yes, I'm sure Baltar made sure he didn't know anything that may get him in trouble. He's the ultimate survivor, the cockroach literally running out of the mushroom cloud at the end of the world.
