Difficult mothers are a bitch and a half to deal with. I have my own (politics and religion are quickly becoming taboo subjects if we want to keep the peace). If you tell her and you think she's not feeling very good about it I would acknowledge her feelings, but ask her to be supportive. I mean, if you know she's feeling something she doesn't want to say just be like 'Look, I know this doesn't make you very happy, but we are, and I really need my mom to be with me on this." If all else fails guilt her into being at least outwardly supportive ;-)
I have next week still free, but classes start after that. I only have two days of classes per week, but I have three 3 hours studio classes ten minutes apart, plus a Lit class once a week in the evening. So they will be very looooooong two days. But I'm excited. Sort of. Most of the time. When I'm not thinking about how much my books/supplies cost.
