You know, I think I enjoy the process of travelling far more than the actual destination. Hmm. Of course this may be because the flight to and from Melbourne is only an hour as opposed to the five hours to and from Perth. Still, it's a theory I will have to further explore ( Read more... )

I think I'm the same way. I always show up super-early to airports. Not just to avoid stress from running out of time, but I love airport culture......going to get a snack, browsing through the magazines/books, hearing all the different accents/languages around me.

Of course I can do/experience this on any given day in NY, but for some reason at the airport it's completely different...knowing you're going somewhere, and then getting on the plane, finding the perfect song for your mood, looking at the clouds and patches land while you're up in the sky. :D

by the way, the song "He's On the Phone" by Saint Etienne will forever be my "flying into Sydney song"....it was playing while the sunbeams danced on the clouds above Sydney and all was well....

Yes! Exactly! Ha, I'm glad to hear that from someone else beside my Aunt and I. Of course it prolly has so much to do with the fact that all three of us actually love the act of flying, don't you think? The sight of the plane, the interior, the sound of the engines, that pressing back into your seat when we pick up speed, and that indescribably exquisite sensation of leaving the ground. Gah. No wonder we find airports so much fun. Heh.

Awwww, I should totally check out that song. That's so sweet ... I'm so glad you had a wonderful view on coming into Sydney. My Aunt tells me it really is one of the best views in all the world.

I am slightly kicking myself for not having the iPod on during this trip ... I was just so aware of being on my own for the first time and trying to focus on doing everything right and not missing anything because I might get lost in a song, you know? Maybe next time. :p
