what a shame

Some writers need a while to charge their batteries, and then write their books very rapidly. Some writers write a page or so every day, rain or shine. Some writers run out of steam, and need to do whatever it is they happen to do until they're ready to write again.

--- That Man.

gaiman, writerly wankery, quotage

Do you think the G-Man still writes the answers to the blog questions himself?

In recent times I've had cause to pause and ponder.

George R.R. Martin is not your bitch.

I can't imagine Gaiman actually saying that!

Also some of the tags, like "Killing Batman - it's like killing Amanda Palmer"? It may be funny, in a random sort of way, but still, it doesn't feel like Gaiman.

I'm probably just being paranoid...

Yeah, that took me back a bit too! But then I figured it was his Scorpio temper showing through and the first part of that post was him getting understandably narky about American Airlines so I figured it was one of those rare times when he lashed out with his lashy scorpion tail. Even if he did wind up with a return to good humour.

OF COURSE he writes them himself! Don't you spread paranoia about the G-Man! *shakes fist* i really shouldn't mention fists after the stuff we saw last night. The tags, though, I wouldn't be surprised if the Web Goblin did, at least the ones Neil can't be bothered doing.

Did the touch of grey upset you as much as it did me? Cos I gotta tell it got me kinda worried about how he's coping with his loss.

Oy, listen to me fussing over a forty year old author I was too scared to haven't even met ... *rolls eyes*

Gawwww. I didn't think of it like that, he's just so well-behaved and English normally!

I think you're right. This definitely sounds like Mr Neil:

And sometimes, and it's as true of authors as it is of readers, you have a life. People in your world get sick or die. You fall in love, or out of love. You move house. Your aunt comes to stay. You agreed to give a talk half-way around the world five years ago, and suddenly you realise that that talk is due now. Your last book comes out and the critics vociferously hated it and now you simply don't feel like writing another. Your cat learns to levitate and the matter must be properly documented and investigated. There are deer in the apple orchard. A thunderstorm fries your hard disk and fries the backup drive as well...I saw the grey streaks - I think they look distinguishing on him. Besides, I like what Poppy Z Brite said about her greys, and I think this should apply to everyone: "there is some gray coming in, and I feel that I've earned every one of those silvery strands and want to ( ... )

Hee. I know, almost unnaturally well-behaved, even. There are some messages he gets which I read and go "Omg, Neil, SLAP HIM!" and then I read his incredibly gracious reply and feel totally ashamed of myself. You Scorpios are so good when you're good ... :p

Yeah, true. I think I was just so shocked. I knew he was greying but somehow had either forgotten or still have the image of him from when we saw him. Neil Gaiman going grey just seems a little "Whut? But he's SO YOUNG! And COOL!"

Yeah, you're right, I'm sure he's doing fine, especially with the family and pets. *nods nods*
