A mermaid
carries herself gracefully
bounding across the night sky,
Becoming enraptured in its iridescent embrace,
trailing the stars,
jumping from one to the next.
Her tresses flowing behind
like a heavenly, sparkling lace
over a veiled, silver moon.
Arms outstretched, eyes closed in wonder,
She takes in its depths.
A clam opens in her palms
A pearl reflecting the shrouded light,
Rejoices
As it becomes one with the moon.
You’d think they were the same,
but Selene had you fooled.
