2007: The Year In Review: Video Games Edition

For as much as the two of us felt we didn't really need an Xbox 360, the two or three months since we bought ours have been amazing. It started off by firing the PS3 as our DVD player (the 360 remembers where a disc left off; the PS3 does not, which matters since we watch a lot of anime and TV shows on DVD), and it is at this point the #1 most-used ( Read more... )

Yeah, that was kinda the idea. The biggest reasons I didn't include MGS:PortOps, Chibi-Robo, and Beatmania were that I forgot about them until after I posted, but also I couldn't think of any categories for them anyway.

Actually my benchmark for the awesomeness of 2007 was the whole "getting married" thing. The year ending was just a convenient excuse to inventory and recap my various time-wasters.

That is seriously the best endorsement anyone could have given me for Eternal Sonata.

I started Valkyrie Profile on PSP but I didn't appear to be able to actually, erm, do anything after the introductory period. Flew around, talked to some people, picked up Puzzle Quest and FFT and haven't picked it back up yet. I'm sure I just had to do something like visit the one field to get the ball rolling, but it was a little annoying how little I could do even with everything wide open on the world map.

Also COME TO THE BE-MY-LIVEJOURNAL-FRIEND PARTY. I BAKED YOU A CAKE. IT IS DELICIOUS AND MOIST.

The story fails to deliver on any of its potential, but the gameplay is tasty and interesting (Valkyrie Profile-ish and actiony and good), and the art direction is beautiful and is how FF9 would have looked if it had not been on the PS1 (and it looked pretty good as it was).

Re: Valkyrie Profile - press Start to open up new things to do. If you want the best ending, keep that flower field in mind and either follow a FAQ to the letter or consult Falc.
