Driving down a long, unpainted highway
unending, unforgiving, unrelenting,
with it's few, cold, malicious lamps
and their constant, flickering shadows, laughing,
I shudder; the shadows mock me,
diving, dancing in front of my car,
escaping just in time.
Reaching to grab me, take me,
laughing,
dancing,
screaming into the noiseless night.
