Gummy Bear Pancakes

Okay, I told JM that I'd tell her a cute family story so here goes:

I have the cutest little brother that ever existed. He's in highschool now, and he's still as sweet as he ever was. Over the Christmas break my brother kept asking me to make him pancakes. Mine are usually pretty good, and I know how to put just the right number of gummy bears in them, though sometimes I cook them on too low of a heat and they're soft. Anyway, I finally decided to make them for him, but I couldn't find the baking powder. -_-' Well, someone once told me that you could substitute baking soda for baking powder... heh. I used the baking soda and gave my little brother the first pancakes. It seemed to be all right. He was eating them, so I went ahead and made two more for my sister, except I put chocolate chips in them. She took one bite and spat it right back out.

"What kind of chocolate chips did you put in these, Alicia?"
"The ones from downstairs, why?"
"Because these taste terrible; I think you used unsweetened chocolate chips in these."
"Oh, here, I'll make you two more."

She took them, poured on syrup, and took another bite ... and spat it back out.

I remembered the baking soda... and took a bite of them myself.

It was the grossest thing I had ever tasted.

Jay mumbles at Shana, "you could have pretended, Shana!"

I looked down at Jay's plate, which was nearly empty. "Jay, you ate all that, just so you wouldn't hurt my feelings?"

Is that not the sweetest thing you have ever heard of? The next day I made more pancakes for my little brother, baking-soda free.
