This book has come up a couple times for me recently on http://www.librarything.com and here in whatwasthatbook.  I remember this book!  It was my introduction to the whole of Norse Mythology and Wagner.  It put down deep roots. That book lead to more reading that introduced me to ideas of historical scholarship, anthropology and textual criticism. I was maybe ( Read more... )

Good luck used book hunting, it's all part of the fun. I'm trying to replace my library discard - it was the hardback that came out in1959 and it seems to not come up for sale too often. Bookfinder didn't produce any hardbacks. There are about 4 copies of the paperback on ebay and alibris each right now. Perhaps I should be less of a book snob and get one of them.

Today I stumbled across mention of Joanne Harris' Runemark and Runelight - have you read either of them? (Life is too short to read crummy books.)
