Miss you, too. So glad to have internet access again. Will be even glader when I have the time/energy to abuse it again.
Hi back to Teddie, because, as always, she remains my favourite. But if I could I'd be traveling back with a kitten or two.. we have kittens here who have just gotten old enough to start to try to explore their environment. But we have them corralled and outsmarted... for now.
As mentioned via email, I hope life gets back to normal soon, and everyone's stress levels are suitably reduced. The last time I was without electricity for that long, I was a kid, and I thought it was an adventure. I can only imagine what my mom thought... hope things improve and you get to enjoy some of your time there.
The kids here desperately wanted to be back in school... or at least have the tv on. They also weren't impressed by the strange concoction called "freezer stew", even when it was renamed "polka dot stew" due to all the hot dogs and brats in it.
If we're lucky, all schools will have power and they'll be back in school on Monday.
This morning I woke up to find them planted in front of the tv... "We're watching everything".
Fortunately, we were never in danger, just without power.
And the city's first priority was to get power up for the golf course and the hotels, since the Ryder's Cup is in town. We'd heard that it'll take up to ten days for the entire city to be back on the grid, and by day 3 we'd resigned ourselves to be one of the last back on.
And then the power came on on day 4. The Electricity gods like it when you give up all hope.
Missing you like crazy AND I am going to try to be in L'ville next [looks at calendar] Friday and Saturday morning. I need to leave for Florida Saturday afternoon -- St Petersburg for Sunday the 28th.
I can't keep track of schedules around here, but Kate has mentioned having girl duty Friday nights, and we're headed to the Kentucky Celtic Ren Faire thing on Saturday.
But she and I are determined to see you, so I bet we will manage to move stuff around so we can see you Friday night. Or, rather, I will not rest until both Kate and I are scheduled to see you Friday night. *grin*
We need some Girl time, of the capital-G adult variety.

And you know, I'd probably be sick of something, even if it was called Polka Dot Stew, though I think the name is damn clever.
Glad to hear things are slowly returning to normal.
