eee!! you know I've been bouncing off the walls for this post for weeks. it's even better than I could imagine :D so much love and happeh behind one lj-cut! I cannot wait to get down there and set up camp on the... l-lanai? you know how I am with your crazy American terminology. that room that Iike. with the flowers! raiding your pepper plants in the night. why am I telling you this :O
you've made me so stupidly giddy, actually taking photos I demanded whisper-quietly-requested of SG Jazz with the Monolith. this pleases him! but he'd never show it... he's just too much of a BAMF.
and now I need to go order Dorothy soap like, immediately 8D
So much love, fun, giddy and happeh, this post is glowing!
Cannot wait for you to get here, bb, but I'm afraid you'll melt on the lanai, it'll be so hot by then. D: We can do late night drinks out there? And I will pretend not to notice any pepper stealing. <333

the genius is not in how much Stanley Kubrick does in 2001: A Space Odyssey but in how little. this is the work of an artist so sublimely confident that he doesn't include a single shot simply to keep our attention. he reduces each scene to its essence, and leaves it on screen long enough for us to contemplate it, to inhabit it in our imaginations. alone among science fiction movies, 2001 is not concerned with thrilling us, but with inspiring our awe.
the Monolith action figure, which is full of stars, is so sublimely confident that it doesn't include a single point of articulation to simply keep our attention. it reduces play to its essence, and leaves a lasting impression long enough for us to comtemplate it, to inhabit our imaginations. alone among other movie-based toys *coughTransformers: DOTM*cough*, the Monolith action figure is not concerned with thrilling us, but with inspiring our awe.
