April's First and Last Reference to saving money for collegehowtheduckApril 30 2008, 19:27:29 UTC
April's Letter, July 2004
At least when I babysit for Gord and Tracey I make some cash and even if I can't get a cellphone I can still buy other stuff for myself. Mom and Dad are making me save half of my money for school (I mean like, college in about a million years from now). When I told Liz about this and about how it's keeping me from having the wardrobe of my dreams she just laughed and said something under her breath about dish soap and macaroni.

If I do want to be a vet, I'll be in school for a long time so I'll need to save a ton of money. I save half of what I make now, so if I work for Mike and Dee that's just more cash in the bank for school.

Girls Slo-pitch Softball - East Region Championship game was today, May 29, between RH King Academy @ SATEC @ WA Porter CI. My daughter plays fast pitch softball, in case anyone was interested, and her first hit was in the 3rd inning.

This is a takeoff on the TV series Alias: Smith and Jones. Al Lois Smith and (Jeremy) Jones. Any relationship to the former presidential candidate who lost to Herbert Hoover, Al Smith, is coincidental.
The story of Jeremy getting a class ring from a departed grandfather is taken from my real life. When I was in high school, my brand new class ring flew off my hand when I was throwing a ball in my dad's backyard, oddly enough at the time in Ithaca, N.Y. He worked as the Dean of the School of Music at Ithaca College at the time. I could not find that ring anywhere, so my father pulled out my late grandfather's old college class ring and let me have it. Unlike Jeremy, I did not have a girlfriend I could give it to wear, and considering the sentimental value, I doubt I have could have given that ring to a girlfriend, even if I had one.

And as you must have guessed, my crew and I really did go to Syracuse yesterday. We were there for lunch, a zoo outing, and dinner. My husband's step-mother's mother was the birthday girl, and she's really amazing. She did make a very similar joke about how her 80-year-old daughter is not to be trusted and will never grow up. :)

I went back through the Mike and Deanna wedding strips and I was quite surprised to find a number of things different between the description of the wedding on Mike and Deanna: A Love Story web page and the actual wedding strips. Everything Mike mentioned is an actual difference between strip and website. The most surprising was the difference in the groomsmen. In an early strip where Deanna says that Mike's sisters, her sister and her friend Judy are to be her bridesmaids, she mentions Mike needs 2 groomsmen and the best man to balance them out. Then when the actual wedding strips appeared, the 2 groomsmen were nowhere to be seen. The same thing happened in the Shawna-Marie Verano's wedding, where Mother Verano mentions the bridemaids and only the groom and best man. I wonder if that's a tradition in Anglican weddings for the groomsmen to be hidden someplace. In my wedding, the best man and all the groomsmen were in front when the bridesmaids processed in.
