Jul 12, 2009 21:24

Sorry for the being slow with posting on this (Dad went into hospital briefly for an angioplasty--all is well, no worries). Anyway... back to the IMC! On Thurday, I'd finally got my image on board (Clayboard 18x24), so I tore through the underpainting... I had to pretty much be careful to keep the image since the non-pigment ink had floated off ( Read more... )

I see youuu!!! :D

And Snake Agent! I just finished reading it recently, actually - I never realized the original art was so stunning though, as they did a red filter over most of the background picture, ack.

Talk about awesome though, to see your work in oils! :D

Right, SNAKE AGENT. Loved those covers. I've only read the first two books in that series, though...

Heheh... it was mostly the acrylic under-painting at that point... actually, still mostly in the same state, sadly! And the oils were drying so quickly, I barely felt as if they were blending... but of course, they were... It was kinda fun... I'll have to finish up my painting at some point (soon--they gave us a deadline of Sept. 1...dunno if I'll make it!).

Hmmm... not sure exactly on that, but they probably did. They've got tons of art books out on their methods, and their photography (which kinda over-laps with their photo-refs, I'd think). If they did use each other, it was probably years ago... Definitely the pieces they were working on used ... what looked to me like... the same model and definitely not themselves. ^___^

When I read over these notes, I sometimes regret that I followed ceramics instead of focusing on my painting. But I wasn't very good and my ceramics are WAY better. I'm so jealous of painters. :| My painting was never very good.

Eh, why be jealous of painters??? You can probably find a cool ceramics class that would be a similar, inspirational/learning experience. Art/creating is the same thing--whether it's writing or painting or printmaking or ceramics or stained-glass or glass-blowing, etc. I know someone who goes to a week-long print-making class somewhere in the Dakotas that sounds as cool ( ... )
