It was like having hours of demos going on by a half-dozen or more master-artists during all the studio sessions (10 to 12 in the morning, 2 to 5 in the afternoon, and 8 to 10 in the evening). Plus, we had the other students all working away--and many of them were also professional and accomplished! It was just an overload of awesomeness--and the bad thing was there was so much going on that we couldn't possible take full advantage of all of it!!! Plus we were supposed to be working on our own stuff--and we were helping out each other. It was just crazy!!! (but all in a good way, of course!)
It was a week-long event... and there were guest-speakers and instructors as well! I thought the class was expensive, but now I think it was worth any price, it was such a trip. I've admired many of these folk for years and years--and some were totally influential in my love of fantasy art. Most of us felt like we were in an incredible dream.
Plus, I was with some wonderful friends--AND got to meet so many more fellow artists! And everyone was so NICE! I mean, I was worried a bit about competition or something--but there was absolutely nothing like that! There were several people who were absolute beginners and they got good attention and help from instructors and fellow students. It made me feel very happy about the people involved in the fantasy art field!
Do you want me to send you larger files? I have at least one of you walking outside Fayerweather Hall that is nice. I haven't loaded my latest photos, but should soon.
It's just the second time this class was held. I'd never have dreamed there would be enough of a demand for such a thing (particularly during a recession!), but it seems there are a number of crazy fantasy artists out there who are just devoted to it... So different than when I started out...
