This is (and always has been) my version of the moment Sam and Dean separate, the half-hug, kiss, shove, last look back, and though I'm seldom able to actually articulate my reasoning when it comes to Sam and Dean, I've got an explanation for every last second of it. This is utterly gorgeous. I love how the broken bits of the story flow in no necessary order, flashes of memory and imagery in the kaleidoscopic, non-linear way the mind works when the focus is not an event as much as the emotion attached to it. It spirals in and hits you right in the heart.

I always know when I see "apreludetoanend," that I'm seeing a prelude to something beautiful.

This is so absolutely gorgeous. This is one of those pieces that goes beyond "mere" fan fiction, and becomes something like poetry, like art. It works for me because each scene is an image you hold to the light - but not too tightly, because it might cut your fingers.
