I would call the admissions offices and tell them the issue asap. They should be arriving before November 1st but I actually have no idea! Maybe you can also call the GRE people?

From ETS's website:

"Current GRE Board policy states that scores are reportable for the five years prior to the 2012-13 testing year (July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2012)."

The prior five years is calculated from the last day of the current testing season (June 30, 2013), not the specific date you took the test. You should be fine, but of course, it never hurts to call the schools and double check.

I am glad you were able to interpret that information for me. I am still a little uncertain on how that works, but I get the principle of the matter.

I will write a school or two and ensure they will accept my scores. But from what you are saying, the Graduate Board is the keeper of the five year gate, and if they say I'm okay by their regulations, then I am okay.

Thanks so much to all of you!

Whoops, that was supposed to say first day of the current testing season, not the last day. Damn sleep deprivation and lack of caffeine!

Either way, I'm sure you know what I meant, and your testing date falls within the range of acceptable dates they gave.

Call the graduate advisor to the program to which you are applying. If there's anything specific to that school he or she would know.

Alternatively you could email them. :-)

Same here. Some of the schools I've looked at are actually pretty explicit -- if your scores are 5 years + 1 day old, they're expired, no matter what ETS has to say about it :-/ I took the exam in December 2007, and the date is just close enough (and enough schools are just ambiguous enough about it) that I just decided to bite the bullet and take it again. Good luck!

I have followed everyone's advice and sent emails to the two schools in which I am interested, but I have found something that promises me some hope and alleviates the anxiety I have about my pre-test anxiety in having to endure another hour of that horrible "calculate the diameter of the circle inside the square" (who TF cares?!) style question ( ... )
