Calculating GPA...

Mar 12, 2011 17:11

Hi~
I was wondering how to calculate the last 60 units I have taken if it includes P/NP grades?
Do I simply just ignore those, especially as they are unrelated to my major, and do they get factored in as well?
TIA!

gpa, pass/no pass

P/NP grades don't factor into your GPA, so don't include the credits for them.

... UNLESS they are NP, in which case they should count as an F.

At least that's how my alma mater calculates it.

Right. I forget that people fail classes :/

Also, some universities calculate incoming P grades as Cs, which isn't fair but there you go. So running the numbers twice in the case of P/NP could be important if you're close to a cutoff point.

there's usually a key on the back of transcript which describes how the gpa is calculated.
