I'm an MA student in New Zealand, and I'm currently looking at applying to some PhD programmes, probably mostly in the UK and Canada (various GRE issues are likely to prevent me from applying to the US). My two biggies are Cambridge and Toronto; I've been in touch with people at Cambridge who have said nice things about my research proposal, etc ( Read more... )

Just put in whatever you can. ISTR the Cambridge application asks for how much you can get in loans, personal savings, etc. separately, so they'll be able to see your funding breakdown. And don't forget to apply for the Gates scholarship! You have to explicitly tick the box, but it'll cover everything.
