You should throw in an app to Harvard -- undergrad vs. grad selectivity differ. If you see yourself happy there, what's the harm in one extra app?

I think I might. I just don't want to apply to too many schools if I don't have a chance at them, since it is a somewhat pricey process. My undergraduate advisor, who will be one of my recommenders, suggested that Harvard may be out of my range.

my GPA, by the way, was 3.52. I haven't calculated my in-major GPA yet, though I should. On that note, I double majored in English and History, but I'm assuming I'd only need to supply the English GPA for applications purposes, not a combination of the two.

Your writing sample is what matters, if that (along with recs. and personal statement) is fantastic you have a shot anywhere. Don't write any school off because of your GPA.
