I seriously apologize if this is TMI, but if I wasn't on Klonopin right now I would go mentally insane.  I have only eaten a taco and a pop tart within the last two days because I am so busy with everything that I forget to eat.

Good news is, I am about 70% done with everything involved with the grad process.

I'm wondering, if your deadlines are in ( Read more... )

Ok, in all seriousness, guys, The Letters Will Come. All you can do is submit your application, and then it's out of your hands (once you make sure they received it & there aren't any clerical errors etc). Once your done with things on your end, just sit back and try to relax and live your life in the meantime -- they will contact you eventually and you will know; I know it sucks to have to wait, but you're not going to find out any earlier by freaking out about it.

It depends on your school and how it's run.

The school I attend can be extremely slow with acceptance letters. Basically you get accepted if a particular faculty member wants to work with you. Sometimes you might get a call from the faculty member in the summer. And that call doesn't mean acceptance -- it means they want to interview you.

The first time I applied, this resulted in me taking a full time job before I got called because I assumed I hadn't gotten in. The second time, I got a phone call in the spring. I know one student that got called in July and started working in August.

When I did get in I actually didn't get my acceptance letter from the university until after I'd arrived at the school, signed my tax forms, and had been working for a month or two. I heard I was in over the phone first and the department secretary confirmed my acceptance via email.

I had a Dec 15th deadline and I got an email on December 24th and freaked out about it...I couldn't stand a ruined Christmas, so I didn't read the email. Then I decided to read it late on Christmas Day, and of course it was just a courtesy email to let me know my materials had been received :)

I heard the final decision on February 14th, again by email.
