LOR- grades and deadlines

Hello! I'm applying to Fall 2010 master programs in speech-language pathology. I already have my LOR writers set, so right now I'm just preparing all the forms, pre-addressed, stamped envelopes, SOP draft, resume, etc to include in my packet for them. I have a few questions before I mail off my packet to them soon.

1) A lot of people get a period of ennui during the sophomore and junior year and their grades drop. Don't focus on it at all, and don't ask your LOR writers to focus on your GPA at all. They're talking about your qualities as a student, not your GPA! That's in your transcript.

2) Don't try to micromanage your LOR writers - they're going to observe the deadlines on the schools (assuming they're decent), but adding a secondary deadline when they know the deadlines for all your schools won't necessarily be observed and could be offputting.

That said, I'd definitely check on your applications a couple weeks before their deadlines and make sure your LOR writers have submitted, and drop them an email reminding them (or phone call, or office hours visit, or whatever) if they haven't!
