Not that they are like the people in my personal real life, but the people in my personal real life who tend to be jerks about money are the people who haven't had to worry about money. They think it's easy and, because they're able to save quite easily (because they don't have to pay for their own health insurance or rent or car), they feel superior. Not that this is the case here necessarily.
