Oh, and you might have better luck getting responses on the canuckgrads community. It's mostly american folk hanging out here.

I'm not the OP, but thanks for mentioning that community! I'm a Canadian hoping to go to a Canadian school, but for some reason I hadn't been able to find any such communities on my own.

Queen's endowment has taken a major hit, and it's very likely MA funding will be targetted when it comes to budget cuts.

This is true about pretty much every school in Canada.

I don't know anything about the history program, but I just finished my MA in religious studies at McMaster.

I liked the school, and parts of the town are quite lovely... aaaaand some parts are not, let's say.

by the way, there are summer courses either in German and French every year, which is when many people get their language requirements finished. You're also allowed to test out of either of these languages. I think there's a test in the spring and the fall.
