Phone freak out

Is it completely normal to have mini panic attacks while speaking with a potential PI on the phone for the first time? And to think you may sound like a blithering idiot? It is? Oh, okay.

:P

When someone from my top choice called to inform me I had been admitted to the program, I first erupted into a short screaming session, followed by a stuttering monosyllabic period. I then went on to sound like a complete moron by suggesting that she might want to have my phone number, then realizing *we were talking to each other on the phone*, then going "oh, never mind". Finally, I answered her question of - is there anything else I wanted to know by actually saying that my question list is not on my desk right now and I can't remember(!). Needless to say, I am still deeply mortified.

Haha! I was lucky - when I was called and informed of my acceptance, I was in class so I didn't answer the phone. This allowed for lots of screaming into my phone mail system, haha. My friends thought I was being attacked or something, it was so random, I was just walking with them and started screaming.

You answered your own question. Was this necessary?
