FLAS essays

I'm applying for FLAS to study Polish during the summer and next academic year. I am having some trouble with the essays and I was hoping you might be willing to give your advice. What's bothering me the most is how to convincingly show my research interests. Also, the essay is not polished yet as I would like to work on the content first.

I don't know about Polish, but I've done a number of FLASes for Armenian, Turkish, Azerbaijani and Russian and never have been turned down... I don't think that they're terribly competitive. YMMV.

I hated writing my FLAS essay. I did it for Korean, though.
