One of my applications is due on the 15th and I still haven't heard back from one of my prof who is supposed to write me an LOR. What's the most tactful way I can say WHAT IS GOING ON? The school needs everything sent together. I can just drop it off on the 15th (I live in the same city) but I just find it strange that I haven't heard anything from ( Read more... )

I did the same thing. Had a prof. ignore me for two months, finally I sent an email saying how much I appreciated his writing LORs on my behalf, that I just wanted to remind him again that the deadlines are on Dec 15 and did he need any more information. Just got a reply yesterday saying that he'll get it done next week and he didn't need anything else. Felt as if he was annoyed with me for pestering him again, but hell, he didn't answer a single email I sent him over the past two months so how could I know he got any of them (he's currently in a different country than I am). I don't really feel bad -- there's a lot at stake for me and I had to make sure.

Bottom line: try calling or even stopping by and asking, I'd only send an email if you can't catch your prof. on the phone or at her office. Don't leave things hanging, it's cutting it close as it is!

I know exactly what you mean. I have one professor who is impossible to get a hold of I am going to see him on Monday and I plan to get the letter then. He has already submitted one online so I just dont understand what takes so long to change a sentence or two and print the rest off an give them to me. Mine are due Dec 15th. So mailing out on Tuesday the 9th will be cutting it a lot more close than I am comfortable with, but it's not like we have much of a choice!
