UC Irvine...?

Has anyone here applied to UC Irvine, especially to their anthropology program? Any ideas on when they send out notifications? I've been looking all over trying to find somebody who's heard back from them, but I've had no luck so far and I'm going slightly crazy waiting! (It's my first choice.)

Thanks, I've checked out that community. :) I just figure posting it here too will give me a greater chance to hear from more people. I'm desperate! :)

I've heard back from the MBGB program (Biology), but I'm sure the timeframe is completely different for anthropology. The deadline for applications for us was January 1st, they notified us of interviews in mid-January, and conducted the interviews the first two weekends in February, if that's any help at all.

Maybe try calling/emailing the department?

Thanks. :) Our deadline was January 15, and I don't think we're doing interviews. Do you think calling/emailing the department is generally a good idea, or does it come across as being annoying? I'm also really nervous that I'll call and they'll tell me right then that I've been rejected...lol...

You know, I'm really not sure if it would be annoying at this point.. I haven't actually had to contact anyone because all my programs do interviews. I've at least heard something from all of them, even if it's not a definite yes/no yet, which has certainly made the wait a little more bearable.

Since a lot of schools have the April 15 deadline, I think early March would probably be reasonable to contact them and ask if they know the timeframe in which they're sending out letters.

I applied there for their MFA in fiction, and I called them last week because I'm dying. They said I'd hear back from them the first or second week of March. I almost had a heart attack. I might explode.

I know, it's so nerve-wracking...I may give in soon and call the department, but I'm afraid they'll tell me I'm rejected right then and there, lol. Good luck!

When I called them, I was super vague because I was freaked out for the same reason. All I said was, "I applied to the MFA fiction program and I wanted to see if you've started sending out letters to students yet." No name... I didn't think I could handle reject on the phone!!! :)

Good luck, though, and maybe we'll be classmates in the fall (knock on wood...)!!!

My program (MS in Stats) had a January 15 deadline and I heard back today.

I've applied to the MA in History program at UCI and haven't heard anything...nothing has been posted on grad cafe either about it, but Im beginning to get impatient.
