I know everyone else is tired of waiting too, but . . . how long do we REALLY think it will take for schools to invite us to interviews, IF they're going to invite us ( Read more... )

Honestly, I really can't help you. It may very well be different for every program/discipline. The best I can do is refer you to The Grad Cafe (http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php) or Yuster (http://yuster.com/) to see if you can find some results from years past. Good luck! :)

Thanks a lot, although I actually feel a little bit more discouraged now than before I looked at it . . . I guess we'll just have to see. After all, I've done everything I could, right? Thanks again anyway!! :)

This is one of those things you can't really predict or try to read between the lines with. Don't drive yourself nuts with it. Things will happen as they happen. If they say it "could" take up to 8 weeks to make their decision, it might mean that it could be even more time before they contact you (although, more likely than not, they're probably trying to give themselves a significant amount of time just in case the process gets held up somewhere ( ... )

Thanks for talking some sense into me. I'll probably still worry, but a response like that helps keep me more balanced :)

We're all going through the same stuff. But, it's out of your hands. Doing things like trying to read between the lines and predict times and results is an attempt to gain some control over a situation that you just have to realize you absolutely can't affect right now. For the moment, until you hear otherwise, your part in this is over.

For me, at least, that's actually a comfort. It's like any responsibility for affecting this is gone. It's just not there. I did my part, now it's time for those schools to take over.

Worry about the things you can change and affect, let go of the things you can't.

I will admit, much as I try, sometimes I can't help but get that horrified feeling of "I said WHAT in my first statement of purpose? Crap, can I redo it?? No? Dammit!" Heh, we're all going through it, so we all know what you're talking about and we'll all be there for each other when it's results time.

Hey, I'm applying to clinical psych programs for the third time, so I know a bit about this.

Two years ago (the last time I applied), I got a couple of interviews. One school notified me on January 20th, and the others all notified me on February 1st. Everyone else didn't send me rejection letters until April, when it was already ridiculously clear that I'd been rejected.

Did you apply to Drexel? I did two years ago, and their interview weekend was February 11th-13th. They asked me to the interview on February 1st. So that might give you some idea. Clinical psych programs don't admit people without some sort of interview (whether phone or in-person), so you should know soon. Make sure you have a professional-sounding voicemail message and keep your phone handy!

Well, that sort of sounds like I'm pretty much screwed . . thanks for letting me know though. I knew it was a reach, I shouldn't be disappointed!

I didn't apply to Drexel but applied to 15 Clinical Psych Phd programs and aside from a rejection letter I received today, I haven't heard a thing. I think the millions upon millions of applications they all receive makes the process especially slow for our kind. What were we thinking?
