Hey thanks for the people who replied to my last post full of nervousness, you definitely helped rationalized things. But now I am so over it because I just received my acceptance letter from UGA which was my first choice program

Yeah I was looking at that on the map, that's definitely exciting. I've never really lived that close to a big city (not counting Orlando, because it's not that big really).

Good to know, I went to FSU for undergrad so I was really looking for a similar environment for grad school. Do you know off the top of your head where most grad students live? I've been looking around online and a lot of apartments i'm finding are pretty skeevy.

I would advise actually visiting and looking for apartments in person. There are some great, affordable places on the East Side but it's very easy to venture from safe to somewhat questionable in Athens, especially if you've never visited. You shouldn't need to spend more than about $575-600 for a good sized 2 bedroom, 2 bath on the East Side (~1100 sq. ft.) and, if you're open to living with roommates, you can obviously split that. There are also some great apartments right near campus, 1 bedrooms on Finley St that are $445. People will tell you the area is sketch because it's next door to public housing but, quite frankly, I never felt unsafe even walking in there at night by myself.

I plan on going up soon to meet with my adviser and look at housing. I've looked on apartmentratings.com and really haven't been too impressed with the places i've found off of there so i'm excited to actually look in person. Thanks for the advice, i'll look around those neighboorhoods.
oh football was one of the reasons why I applied, lol. While I'm sure I will inevitably miss some games, I hail from the south so football is definitely a big deal.
