Hi everyone. I wanted to introduce myself--although I'm primarily here because I'm applying to programs in comparative literature and English this year, I also happen to work in the grad studies office at UCSD, and I keep a fellowship blog for those of you who might be interested in, you know, getting paid. Thanks for this useful tidbit. I'll def. check it out for future reference, if only for comparison's sake.

Ahhh, comparative literature...I am applying to Classics programs with a comparative lit. focus. Good luck to you! Let me know how you fare.

Ahhh Evil Willow icon! The paradox that is!

I kind of liked Evil Willow. Seasons 1-3 Willow was my favorite Willow, of course, but I thought she was getting a little too insipid and cringing by Season 6. Also, anyone who tells Dawn to shut up and stop crying is perfect in my books.

Would you happen to know how good the funding for their IR/PS program is? I applied there and I'm so glad they'll let us know by late Jan./early Feb.!

IR/PS has a decent budget for incoming students, and successful applicants who are U.S. citizens do pretty well in obtaining at least something. Be sure to apply to their after-admission scholarship competition as soon as you hear you've been admitted, though, because my understanding is that they make those awards on a rolling basis. A lot of IR/PS students end up with TAing or RAing offers, too, because there's a lot of interest in IR/PS among the undergraduates. Overall, I'd call it one of the more generous masters programs at a state school. If you end up coming here, get to know Amanda--she's the grad supervisor for the department as well as a graduate of the program and she knows what she's doing.

hello there! happy_endings January 8 2008, 05:01:21 UTC
I don't know if you can help me with a general application questions or if your knowledge is limited to fellowships. You can just let me know if you don't know the answer to my question. I'm completing an application for UCSD's M.S. in Statistics right now, and even though the deadline is in more than a month, I finished all my applications at the same time. UCSD's is the only application to have the status of my letters of recommendation actually within my online application. Does this mean I should wait until all my letters have been submitted to pay the application fee and submit it? Or will my professors be able to submit their letters after I have submitted my application? Thank you!

Hi Shannon, I sent you a message via livejournal earlier and was hoping you got it?
