Princeton Review Cracking the GRE

Nov 09, 2007 20:05

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Princeton Review's "Cracking the GRE." I used their methods to a T on the writing section, and ended up with a 6! According the PR, the number one indicator of a high score is length. I also used their "template" and it clearly worked like a charm. Oh, and just so you know it was PR, I got a 4.5 when I took the ( Read more... )

What did you think helped with the verbal/math?

My verbal was the same (even though I studied the hell out of it, though my percentage was still not terrible ... must have been a hard section this year). For math, it just helped that the book explained the math like your fifth grade teacher did. Very clear, very simple. Also, I think the key to the math section is just brushing up on the basics. There was a ton of practice in the book, plus with the book came a subscription to their online service. So I got two full GRE practice tests on the computer, three sections in the book, plus all the other exercises. Practice makes perfect.

Overall I really liked that the tone of the book was really conversational. It was like your buddy was helping you study for the GRE, not some automaton tutor. I like it, and definitely felt it was worth the $29

Do you know if I should get the 2007 or 2008 version?

I bought whatever the newest version was as of September. I'd go with whatever is the newest, because it'll have the most up-to-date vocab list

hey did you notice a difference in scoring between the PR's online full-length tests and PowerPrep? I've done 2 PR's online tests and the scores were both much lower than what I scored on PowerPrep.

Are you by chance a solicitor for the Princeton Review? If not, sorry, your post just seems so salesman like. Sure you're not cut out for an MBA?

Um, no. Just someone who's thrilled that I got a good score and wanted to give props. Plus, thought it might help someone out. But way to reinforce the asshole academic stereotype.
