Carl the one hybrid dog-and-pony show was entirely too cute! Especially when the cats insisted on going for a ride after Artie was done. LOL I think this little play group is going to work out very well. :)

I figured the cats -- well, Kurt anyway -- would be thinking, why should he have all the fun? Donna's done this before, but isn't about to give up another chance! I think they will. The good thing is they can discuss their issues, at least as humans, if conflicts do come up.

Carl is entirely too wonderful in his dog form! Love him!

And bless Artie for being forthright enough to address the issue of how to interact as different species. Getting that concern out in the open was critically important not just for this small group, I think, and this provided a kind of blueprint for how to do it and how successful it could be -- which could be huge in the future too.

The other thing I loved was the very subtle indications of just how different the full-humans are from each other -- and yet they manage to get along, so -of course- the hybrids can as well -- also an important point for the future.

Yeah, I wanted to give Carl a little more to do, since he's the oldest of the hybrids in this story.

All it takes is one person being brave enough to speak up, and you usually find out others are thinking the same thing, too. There are probably reasons why there aren't groups of hybrids hanging out together…many owners would probably find it uncomfortable, even possibly threatening, to find their pet isn't entirely dependent on them for companionship.

Yes, we've got some very different personalities, ages, interests, outlooks…but they're all brought together by a common cause, which helps. The more the full humans trust each other, the easier it will be to trust them with the temporary care of their pets, if need be. Whether it's for play dates, reading lessons, or anything else, there's no real need for competition among the hybrids, or marking territory, establishing who's the alpha, etc. They know they can go back to their own home later and have their owner's undivided attention again.
