Ohh, very interesting. Ginko seems to fit just as well in this world as he does in the Mushishi one. I would definitely be interested in a continuation, but it works fine on it's own too ^^

I really like this world, and I love all the little details you put in (like the flavored nanostick and Dr. X and even a mention of Tanyuu). Fabulous! It really works too, the whole idea of mites evolving, and the ending has that sort of restful but pensive mood that Mushishi always evokes in me. ^_^

The little details sprinkled here and there which gave a taste of the real world of Mushishi were just adorable, and I have to say you nailed Ginko's personality so well with "Heh ... " he said, marveling. "You've evolved." and the like. As in nailed. Perfectly.
