My partner and SO has run into this time and time again in her job at a software firm.

I don't know why she puts up with it, but as she gently reminds me when I get upset upon hearing the latest outrage . . . it's not my decision. I respect that.

I think her view is that she can tame that brutish crew. I hope she succeeds.

I think this is just about any industry, though. Not just tech.

It's really sad.

Though, I've not really had much a problem myself. I know it exsists... Or maybe I'm just one of those women that have learned to tolerate it? Not sure. :/

yeah, but not like blatantly offensive vulgar discrimination, sometimes.

i suppose it's not so bad, i'm just sick of it.

With the amount of complaints I've gotten about men in general from female friends of mine (boyfriends and whatnot) I'm sick of it too.

It's hard to find a guy that can actually... behave himself? -_-

oh god, don't even get me started on that.. :P

it's sorta sad how people seem to think that being behind a semi-anonymous veil on IRC gives them license to act however they feel like acting.

"As a result, the only women you see in tech are those who are willing to put up with all the abuse."

See how great life is? As a result, you only get to work with cooler women! :-)

hmmm... perhaps you have a different startingpoint in this discussion. Perhaps a more ethical one, too. :-P
