What do you crazy kids read these days? Back in teh dayz of the boom, I read Slashdot, and then Digg. Now I read fark, and lj. But I still watch digg sometimes. And I like the blog page at Make.
I prefer /. cause it's not as dumb. Once in a while there's a great Digg story, but most of the time, it's dumb and nothing I couldn't read on /. or any other site.
The reason you're seeing this is because CENSORSHIP SUCKS. Digg thrives on user submitted, NON-REVIEWED articles moderated by the users. The reason Digg to flooded with this is a lot of people started noticing the censorship and made it a point to turn the system on it's head and point out the blatent abuse by the site maintainers. I think what happend was quite important in Digg's history as the moment when Digg realized it really can't police it's users because otherwise it will backfire on them.
Oh and for the digg haters, blow me. It's the best source of un-modereated nonstop news on the web I've found to date. It has pretty good variety and mostly relevant content except for the occasional douchebags posting ZOMG AMAZING BEST THING EVER posts.

it's neither good variety nor relevant content (unless...you deem extremely discriminatory articles "relevant").
Anyway, someone else on MR said what I would have said better. http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=3603240&postcount=16
