I refuse to believe that this truly represents the will of the actual majority.

The problem is that too many of us are silent when it counts. Too many failed to show up at the polls during the last several general elections. Now we are seeing the folly of that inaction as the violently-noisy-fundamental-zealot-right-minority is taking over our government. At least I hope they are a minority - because if I am wrong and they are really a majority we are headed for a world of hurt.

i know :(

but there aren't that many good candidates to vote for, even if one were to vote. I'm contemplating the 2008 presidential elections (finally old enough to vote!) and I can't honestly think of any candidate standing above the others. They all suck.

I'll still vote though.

Apple, I really respect your opinion and I think your a really cool, intelligent, geek girl. But, I can't agree with you here. I support a woman's right to choose, but late term abortion is really something that is "Sickening." I think placing reasonable limits on late term abortion, is a sign of a responsible society.
If "they" try to stop all abortions (medical reasons, rape, and otherwise), I will be there protesting and rallying for my daughters right to choose. But, because a woman couldn't make up her mind until her soon to be expelled crotch fruit started kicking her in the bladder. No, I won't support it. Reasonable limitations.

I have to agree here :/

Women need to show some form of responsibility with their bodies. Once you know you are preggo (which you should know before this point; if not you're a moron and shouldn't be having sex in the first place.) you should already KNOW if you want the kid or not.

Yes getting an abortion might be a hard choice in some cases, but it shouldn't take that long to decide either.

i concur entirely with both of you. late term abortions that are not necessary for medical reasons sicken me more than i would be sickened if the entire supreme court decided to deliberate in the nude.

the point is abortions happen all the time whether or not anyone likes it, but the government..if they're gonna have any say in this other than to protect womens' right to an abortion, they shouldn't be forcing women who DO need such a procedure to go through another one that is potentially more dangerous.

btw, 0.17% of formerly-legal abortions were banned by that. talk about stupidly insignificant but enough to harm women. what was the point of trying? to chip away at abortion rights? :\

"What's next, a ban on all late-term abortions, period? And then a ban on surgical abortions..and then a ban on any abortion...and then a ban on the morning after pill...and then a ban on any sort of contraceptive..."oh it kills babies, evil!!"

I can't tell if you're exaggerating, but it sounds like a fallacious slippery slope argument to me.
