How will Lion's New Security Model Affect things like Python?

I'm curious to know how the new security model in OS X Lion will affect the future. Specifically, I'm questioning Entitlements and Sandboxing ( Read more... )

I think there will always be the option for non sandboxed/entitled code. The reasons for those things when it comes to the Mac App Store, is that Apple has positioned the App Store as the "safe and secure" way to find and install applications.

By enforcing this security model for the App Store, they can nearly guarantee (bugs in the for systems or the approval process aside) that the apps, regardless of who makes them, won't harm their customer's computers. This makes most customers feel good.

That being said, with it's unixy underpinnings, there's nothing stopping a user with knowledge from running things as sudo or just plain root, where they (should) knowingly have taken the choice for the ramifications of doing so.

Just my first thought about it all...
