I was sad though, as beautiful as they were I'm technically too old to wear one. T_T

[rolls eyes] You're also 188cm tall and of European descent. What-ever! Papa says you should wear what makes you happy!

Mama agrees. I have no idea where you heard that "age limit" on kimono, but it's probably about as accurate as rules about not wearing white shoes after Labor Day. I don't know a single person in Japan who thinks twice about middle-aged or even married women wearing furisode, so I'd say wear what you want! Probably the only people who would actually care about you being "too old" to wear a furisode would be the type of people who would choke on their bile at the thought of Disney or polka-dot kimonos as well. You've already professed liking "modern trends" in kimono, so you might as well go the whole way.

Good to hear that kimono style is going the way of white shoes rules! I am sad to only wear black and navy kimono because I am an old lady... -_-

Wah! How did cute guys get vetoed!!! What was more important than cute guys! -priorities-, people! LOL

I know this is an old post, but how do you like that Mamechiyo book? Is it good? Lots of pictures?

Wow! Old post is old! lol I love both of my Mamechiyo books. =D Kimono ala mode is more coordinate oriented where as Mamechiyo's Kimono Modern is a bit more how to.

This past new years I picked up this book --> http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%9F%E3%82%B7%E3%83%B3%E3%81%A7%E7%9D%80%E7%89%A9-%E7%B6%BF%E3%83%BB%E9%BA%BB%E3%83%BB%E3%82%86%E3%81%8B%E3%81%9F-%E3%82%84%E3%81%BE%E3%82%82%E3%81%A8%E3%82%86%E3%81%BF/dp/4766119010/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1254374256&sr=1-12

in Japan, it is also very Mamechiyo and comes with a sewing pattern.
