I can at least say that Volume 1 of the Princess Princess manga is pretty mind-numbing, and the anime (so far) unfortunately doesn't seem to improve on it much. (Well, I mean, Fukuyama Jun automatically makes the anime cooler than the manga, but other than that...) I'm still going to keep watching it, of course, but I don't expect it to improve.
But the premise is just... so great! Maybe I can just make up my own Wacky Princess Hijinks for the lulls. Minako-chan, write me some Wacky Princess Hijinks, ne~e~e?
Pluses: I love Jun-kun (this is SUCH a season for him!), and I adore Hoshi-chan's Sakamoto. (His nasal-y tone is infinitely cuter to me since I never really watched Saiyuuki.) The EXTREMELY GAY ending sequence made me laugh a lot. Is that a plus? Not really. I dunno. [shrug] The ridiculously poorly-used soundtrack is beautiful. Nice animation. Remember when animation used to look cheap and crappy? Sigh.
All these great gags are there, but they don't use them well. The "backdrop" bit should have been much, much funnier. In my mind, it was funnier. It seems to me (and I'm overanalyzing after just one episode) they don't want it to become a farce...? But it's CROSS-DRESSING GOTHIC LOLITAS. It's gonna be silly. >_o

Have not seen princess princess (yet).
NANA (the movie) was very very entertaining and way cute, looking forward to checking the series.
Finally some good stuff again =D
