Last night I watched Gillo Pontecorvo's La Battaglia di Algeri with English Subtitles. The movie is about the Algerian FLN revolution against the French. A brilliant and very well made movie. Must watch ( Read more... )

I don't mind watching pirated copies. It's the cam-recording versions that suck!

Both these were cam recorded shit. He said they were not pirated. I did not know he meant they were not pirated copies but cam recorded :)).

:D Yeah, Cam recordings are "originals" unless of course there are pirates screwing the camcorder-people which makes the whole thing really funny. There should be a movie "Camcorder-People Vs. Pirate-People" like that Werevolves Vs. Vampires movie that was released sometime this past year :)

Why so lonely?

Looking forward to your views on Bose, the forgotten hero.

> Why so lonely?

Bad day, bad thoughts :)

> Bose, the forgotten hero.

Not only were the CDs made by shooting the movie with a camcorder in a theater, but they also had scratches and were not playing properly. I could barely watch the movie, so I ditched it.

I too would rather wait for a good print. Hence yet to watch 'Parineeta', 'Bunty aur Babli' etc.

Parineeta is a good movie. Though silly at times, I liked it a lot. I did not read Sarath Chandra Chatterjee's novel so I can't say if the movie does justice to the movie.

And as for, BnB, 'Wanna B' was good in Sarkar (and the movie was very good too).

So its not pirated that way :)

Henceforth, I'll always ask if it is from a camera. I figure, the moral aspect apart, the pirated CD isn't a big deal as far as the movie watching pleasure is concerned.

Dont waste time on Bose. You might as well pick up a good book on Bose.

I ended up not watching it because of the poor quality of the CDs. I was expecting that Shyam Benagal would do a good job :-) And any recommendations for the book?
