AN;; So I went through and counted the number of smut scenes I had to write for this. And it comes out to a grand total of five because there won’t be any more for the rest of the fic, well, maybe one more. But at most there will be six. Aish. Six?! >_> This is a bit shorter... but the last two chapters will be a bit longer.

Chapter 08 - Don’t You Wish
--
The days passed by leisurely. The five of them went on various tours of the island, Taemin snapping pictures of everything he could. The wild life was abundant, and there was even a picture taken of a large tropical bird sitting on top of Jonghyun’s head while he had the most horrified expression on his face.
They went jet skiing, scuba diving, fishing. Everyone was starting to tan a little bit heavily, except for Taemin. He always had a massive amount of sunscreen on so he didn’t burn, something Key took to putting on for him until he was usurped by Jinki.
Jonghyun seemed to stop bothering Jinki and Taemin. He stayed out late at night partying, and was even talking to a few of the local island girls. Jinki rolled his eyes when he saw Jonghyun get ready to go out for another night of partying. This could only end in disaster.
There were only two days left of the vacation. And all of them felt like it was ending much too early, especially Minho, who didn’t want to return home to the harsh reality.
“Minho! Are you coming? We’re going out on the yacht for a little bit.” Jinki stuck his head into his room to see him lazing on the bed. “Where’s Key?” He rolled over and lazily raised and eyebrow. Jinki laughed. Minho was trying to spend as much time as he possible could with Key. They were almost inseparable on this vacation.
“He’s on the hammock on the beach.” Minho got up and left without another word. “I guess that means you’re not coming!” Jinki shouted after him.
“You guessed right.”
--
The gentle ocean breeze gently rocked the hammock while Key closed his eyes in content. He’d always wanted a hammock, but there was no space in the city for that type of thing. He thought back to the hammock in his backyard at his house in his hometown. His mood sank a little bit. Jinwoon and Key always took naps together there.
He heard footsteps coming towards him and didn’t even have to guess who was climbing into the hammock with him when he smelled the familiar scent of his cologne mixed with the salty air. He turned on the hammock to lay on Minho’s arm as he pulled him closer to his chest. Key didn’t open his eyes.
Minho kissed his forehead again and watched his face quietly. Key took comfort in his arms, letting himself forget that he had done this before with someone else, letting himself forget that he was responsible for someone’s death, letting himself forget he loved someone else. He pretended that he loved Minho all his life, and that this was where he was meant to be.
They laid like that in silence until Minho started to sing softly to himself. “... But it still feels like Romeo and Juliet. I wanna love you but I just can’t seem to do it yet. Boy, I don’t want us to fall, that’s not the story at all, I care too much to let our ending be like Romeo and Juliet..” He hummed a few notes to himself.
Key opened his eyes and sat up a little bit too quickly, causing both of them to yell as the hammock flipped over, Minho landing on the sand on his back with Key of top of his chest. Minho chuckled a little bit beneath him. “Good morning sleepy beauty. I thought I had to kiss you to wake you up.” Key rolled his eyes and shook his head at the corny line before smacking Minho on the chest.
“You are so cheesy. It’s painful.” Minho draped his arms around Key’s waist. “Whatever. You love it.” Key stared off into the distance. Did he love it? He laid his head on Minho’s chest and sighed. He could feel his heart being torn to pieces as soon as Jinwoon entered his mind.
Minho felt the mood shift and reached a hand up to brush away some stray strands of hair out of Key’s face. “What’s wrong? Vacation is almost over. You shouldn’t spend it in a bad mood.” Key looked back up at Minho. He had a slightly worried expression on his face as he traced Key’s jawline.
Key scooted up his body as Minho cupped his face with his hand and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. Both of them closed their eyes as Key deepened the kiss, grabbing onto Minho’s shoulders. He pulled away slightly, but kept their faces close. “Make love to me Minho,” he whispered, feeling Minho stiffen beneath him. “Here? On the beach? What if someone sees us?” Key just shook his head. “I don’t care... please...” Minho let out a low groan and flipped them over before capturing Key’s lips with his own.

Jinki and Taemin took the yacht out for a bit. The two of them sat anchored down in the middle of the clear ocean water, enjoying the rocking sensation as the waves rolled beneath the boat. Jinki sat down next to Taemin with his arms over the railing and handed him a packet of ice cream. They smiled at each other before Taemin returned his gaze out to the ocean and leaned his head on Jinki’s shoulder, ice cream still in his mouth.
“When did you learn how to drive a yacht?” He asked, turning his eyes towards the older man. Jinki laughed, rubbing the back of his head.
“Isn’t it stereotypical for rich people to own tons of yachts and know how to drive them?” Both of them laughed.
“Well yeah, but you’re not really the stereotypical rich person. At least in my eyes you’re not.” Jinki ruffled Taemin’s hair and finished off his ice cream. Taemin giggled, reaching up with a finger to wipe some ice cream off the side of his mouth. “Messy eater.” Jinki watched as Taemin licked his finger clean. Good lord. He hated it when Taemin was feeling a bit devious. He was just too hard to resist.
“So, are you gonna tell me what happened between you and Jonghyun at the hot spring?” Jinki froze. Oh god. He was in trouble wasn’t he? Taemin just shot him an amused look while clearly seeing the other boy panic.
“I...I...I... it was an accident. I thought it was you.” His panic turned to confusion as Taemin just laughed. “You’re... not mad? Did Jonghyun tell you?” Taemin smiled out at the ocean again, chuckling to himself.
“Both he and I had the same idea. But when I went to go for it, I felt his hand around it already, which is when he gave me that weird look. Key noticed and did the high five thing. So I knew. And Jonghyun knows I know.” Now Jinki was really confused. Taemin didn’t mind? The next thing he knew, he was on his back on the deck of the ship with Taemin above him.
“And you’re a bad boy for enjoying it Jinki. I’m going to make you forget all about it.” Jinki groaned. Oh good lord.

Minho and Key were coming up from the beach when they saw Jinki and Taemin dock the boat. The two couples exchanged hellos, all of them noting the disheveled appearances of everyone else. Key and Taemin chuckled with each other before Key threw an arm around Taemin’s shoulder while Taemin grabbed his waist as they headed up to the house together.
Minho helped Jinki tie up a few lines and finish securing the yacht to the dock. He didn’t miss the happy smile on Jinki’s face, one of the happiest smiles he’d ever seen on his face in a while. They sat on the edge of the dock together, feet dipped into the water.
“How are things going with Taemin?”
“He’s an angel sent from heaven. I think I’ve finally be rewarded for living a good life, Minho. I’m not even joking.” Minho chuckled at his friend. “Has he met your parents?”
“Yeah, a few times for dinner. They like him, they think he’s adorable. Mom’s always asking him about the latest designer stuff. Dad was a little bit disappointed until Taemin tackled the hell out of him in a game of football.” They both laughed this time. Minho was glad. Jinki deserved to be happy like this.
“What about you and Key?” Jinki asked, kicking up some water. Jinki saw the slight frown that appeared on his best friend’s face. “I guess you could say it’s better.”
“But you guys were practically inseparable this entire vacation.” He saw Minho sigh again. “I know. But this is a vacation. And once we leave here... I’m afraid reality is going to hit again.” That he realizes he doesn’t love me at all and he still loves that stupid, comatose- Minho shook his head. He shouldn’t be thinking like that.
“There’s no way he hasn’t developed any feelings for you. There’s absolutely no way. You’re not one to lose Minho. I believe you can win him over.” Jinki patted his friend on the shoulder as Minho grinned slightly. “I hope you’re right.”
--
Key and Taemin were doing the dishes left over from last night. “How was the yacht?” Key asked, handing over a clean dish for Taemin to dry. “It was fine. The water was beautiful, and I got to spend some quality alone time with Jinki.” Key nodded as Taemin fought a huge smile curling onto his face.
“I think he’s the one Key.” Key dropped the dish he was cleaning into the sink. Luckily it didn’t break as he leaned over onto the sink. His breath suddenly left him like he just ran a mile without stopping. “What?” Taemin just smiled at him happily, staring off into the distance where Jinki and Minho were talking.
Key didn’t know how to feel about this. On one hand, he was so happy for his baby. Taemin finally found someone decent who could take care of him and love him. On the other hand, that meant changes were going to occur. Maybe Taemin would be moving out and on with his life while Key was stuck in the same place he always was. Maybe Taemin was leaving him too.
“Key,” he said, placing his hand over one of Key’s hands on the edge of the sink. “You need to move on. Minho loves you. You know he does. He can make you happy. I’ve seen the looks on your face when you two are together. Just let go of Jinwoon. You know he would want to see you happy.” The silence was almost unbearable for Key.
“Jinwoon may have been your first love, but he’s not going to be your last.”
--
Minho noticed the dark mood Key was in during dinner. Hell, everyone noticed the dark mood Key was in. Taemin kept flashing him worried looks, but Key just picked at his food, occasionally putting some into his mouth and chewing a few times before swallowing. Jinki whispered something to Taemin, who just shook his head and told him to eat his food.
Jonghyun rolled his eyes. This was supposed to be a damn good vacation, and he would rather be damned than have it ruined by one person on the last night. “So we’re going souvenir shopping tomorrow, right guys?” He asked, shoveling some food into his mouth.
“Yeah. Early in the morning, then back to pack and leave for home.” His attempt at conversation didn’t go so well. Good grief. Key sighed before pushing his plate away from him and excusing himself to the bedroom, claiming to feel unwell. Minho watched him get up and leave, chewing a few more times before swallowing and placing down his utensils. He was about to get up and go after him when he suddenly felt Taemin’s hand on his arm.
“You should probably just leave him to his thoughts for now.” He looked from Taemin to the bedroom once before sighing and sitting back down, pinching the bridge of his nose. Why did it feel like he was fighting a losing battle?
--
The shopping trip was uneventful for the most part. Minho bought anything that Key’s eyes lingered on for too long. He even bought a few things for his mother. Jinki and Taemin were hand in hand, looking through things with excited voices. Jonghyun made a gagging noise at the two of them and rolled his eyes. He bought a few things for his parents, but bought a lot of alcohol for himself.
After they were done, it was time to pack, then time to board the plane back home sooner than Minho could even think about. On the plane, Key was silent in his window seat, mind in a faraway place that Minho didn’t dare to intrude.
At the airport, reality hit him particularly hard when Key wouldn’t meet his eyes. He dropped Taemin and Key in front of their apartment, Jinki and Taemin kissing through the rolled down car window before they parted.
Key gave Minho one last look before turning around and heading inside without a word. Minho let his head fall back onto the back of his seat.
Reality hit him one last time with the fact that Key may not love him the same way he loved Key.
