Stuffed

--

If there was one thing that Woohyun found endearing about their leader, Sunggyu, it was that he still slept with a teddy bear at night. The thing was dirty, and smelled exactly like Sunggyu. Woohyun caught him talking to it a few times, about his worries as a leader, worries that Woohyun didn’t even know he had.

Sunggyu talked, sometimes pitching his voice higher for the bear’s reply, until he noticed Woohyun grinning at him. Then he would clear his throat and hide the teddy bear behind him until they fell asleep. When Woohyun woke up, it would be nestled into his arms again.

“Hey, Sunggyu. Can I ask you something?” Woohyun asked one day. They were on the way to the studio for some extra vocal training and recording.

“You already did. Did you want to ask something else?” he said from the front seat with a smile on his face. Woohyun rolled his eyes. Ever since Myungsoo said that to him, he’d been using it whenever he could.

“Yeah. What’s up with that teddy bear you sleep with at night?” Sunggyu was silent more for a moment, blinking a few times and tilting his head.

“What about it?”

“Why do you have it?”

“It’s nice. It’s comforting. It listens.” Woohyun pursed his lips before leaning forward to get a look at Sunggyu’s face.

“I’m all those things too, but I don’t see you talking to me like that. Or holding me whenever you go to sleep.”

“You do plenty of holding for the both of us,” Sunggyu said, laughing slightly. There had been more than a few morning where the two of them woke up tangled in each other’s arms, teddy bear squished between them.

“Well, I know but...”

“We’re here, boys.” Sunggyu unbuckled his seatbelt before opening the door and slamming it closed. Woohyun sat back in his seat for a moment, a little bit dejected.

“You never hold me.”

--

Woohyun noticed that Sunggyu had a lisp whenever he said certain things, or whenever he was trying to talk too fast. It was something that made him grin whenever he noticed it, unable to take his eyes off their leader. His heart beat a little bit harder, making its presence known.

“Would you shut up?” he said to his chest, thumping his fist against it.

“Are you okay?” Sunggyu walked into their practice room with an extra bottle of water, throwing it to Woohyun.

“Yeah. Fine. Just. Fine,” Woohyun stammered out. He looked away from the curious stare Sunggyu gave him, suddenly very interested in the piano keys. He didn’t notice the slight frown on Sunggyu’s face.

--

“Did I do something weird? Did he notice? I mean, I’m the leader and everything so I shouldn’t really be having these kinds of thoughts...” Sunggyu stared into the black eyes of his teddy bear for a moment before sighing deeply and hanging his head.

“Yeah. You’re right. Maybe I should leave him alone for a bit.”

Sunggyu was already asleep with the bear in his arms by the time Woohyun came in.

--

“Did... something happen between you guys?” Dongwoo asked, looking between Woohyun and Sunggyu. Sunggyu was facedown on the couch trying catch some extra sleep before they had to head out to practice again.

Woohyun frowned. There was definitely a problem when even Dongwoo noticed something was wrong. “I don’t know. He’s been avoiding me all week and making excuses to leave whenever I come into the room. Or sleeping. He’s always sleeping now,” he said before standing up and looking for a pair of sweats to change into.

“Did you two get into a lover’s spat?” Myungsoo asked with a grin on his face as he sat down in the spot Woohyun was sitting before.

“What? No. NO! We’re not even like that,” Woohyun muttered, rummaging through the closet for something that didn’t smell too bad. Seven boys and one closet, probably one of the worst combinations after seven boys and one bathroom.

“Whose are these?” Woohyun held out a pair of black sweats before he sniffed them gingerly. “They smell fine. Are these yours, Dongwoo?”

“Probably not. I keep all my clothes in the cubbies, nice and folded.” Woohyun shrugged before struggling to pull his jeans off to change.

“Okay, guys, time to- Oh. Sorry.” Sunggyu walked into the room with a yawn, freezing when he saw Woohyun with his pants halfway off. He stood there for a second before whirling around and leaving again without another word.

Dongwoo and Myungsoo looked after their leader with curiosity while Woohyun sighed. He finished changing and threw his pants somewhere in the corner of the room.

“Would it kill you to fold them?” Dongwoo crawled over to the pants and folded them neatly before placing them down again. “That’s why you never find any of your clothes.”

“Forget my clothes, guys. What do I do about Sunggyu? This is really awkward.” Myungsoo gave him a thoughtful look before leaning back onto his hands.

“Well... you could always cook for him. He has to at least thank you for that. Then we’ll somehow squish you guys together at the table so you’ll have to make conversation.”

“Cook for him?”

“Haven’t you heard? The best way to win a guy is through his stomach. And you’re a good cook so... You know.” Myungsoo grinned at him before glancing out at the door to see Sunggyu trying to get Sungjong to put his shoes on faster.

“I’ll try...”

“And look cute while doing it.” Woohyun turned to give Myungsoo a weird look. Myungsoo couldn’t help the smile on his face.

“You are such a creep sometimes, do you know that?”

“Sunggyu sleeps with a teddy bear. It’s safe to say he likes cute things.”

--

Woohyun was distracted all through practice, trying to think of things to cook for dinner that night. He definitely lived up to his role of the black hole in dancing. His microphone slipped out of his hand when he wasn’t paying attention. The loud clatter as it hit the floor jerked him out of his thoughts, and without thinking, he dived for it.

“Woohyun!” The microphone rolled away from him as someone stepped on his wrist. He cried out in pain before pulling his hand back. The music stopped and there was scrambling.

“What the hell, Woohyun? You know you’re just supposed to let it go when stuff like that happens!” Sunggyu squatted next to him, rubbing his back.

“Someone grab some ice and a wrap. Seriously...” Sunggyu nagging fell on deaf ears though. Despite the slight, throbbing pain in his wrist he was just happy that Sunggyu was talking to him again.

--

Unfortunately, the accident put a little dent in Woohyun’s plans to make dinner.

“It only hurts a little bit. Just let me cook dinner today, and I promise I’ll rest it afterwards!” Sunggyu shook his head.

“We can’t risk you making it worse. After it gets better, then you can cook. You hardly ever cook anyway, so I don’t know why you’re making such a big deal.” Woohyun opened his mouth to say something but closed it and sat back on the couch with a pout on his face.

“Woohyun... Come on. Don’t make that face,” Sunggyu said, giving him a defeated look. Woohyun’s only response was to jut his bottom lip out farther and start making whining noises. He was going to win this. He could already see Sunggyu’s resolve breaking.

“Fine. Just get someone to help you.” Woohyun fist pumped in triumph before looking around.

“Where’s everyone else? I need to go grocery shopping. And probably someone to help carry the bags...” The rest of the members were pressed up against the door of the bedroom, holding it closed and being as quiet as possible.

“Guys?” Sunggyu knocked on the bedroom door.

“Pretend to be sleeping! Go, go, go!” The others scrambled to their blankets. When Myungsoo deemed that they were ‘sleeping’ well enough, he ruffled his hair and did his best to pretend to have just woken up.

“Hmm?” Myungsoo blinked his eyes sleepily at Sunggyu.

“Oh. You’re all...” He peeked into the room to see the rest of the sleeping members. “I was gonna ask if someone wanted to go grocery shopping with Woohyun since he wanted to cook today but...”

“You can go, Sunggyu. I’ll help him cook when you guys get back,” Myungsoo murmured sleepily, closing the door before Sunggyu could say anything. As soon as the door was closed, everyone sat up with a look of glee on their faces.

There was another knock, and the smiles were wiped off and everyone pretended to sleep again. Myungsoo opened the door again, this time Woohyun’s smiling face was seen.

“Thanks, guys. Someone throw me my wallet.” Dongwoo fished around the blankets with his eyes closed and opened an eye to make sure he found the right wallet before throwing it to Woohyun.

--

Sunggyu and Woohyun wandered around the local convenience store, Woohyun throwing whatever caught his eye into the basket Sunggyu was holding.

“Is there anything you wanted in particular for dinner?” Woohyun asked nonchalantly, watching Sunggyu out of the corner of his eye.

“No. Whatever you cook is fine. I like your cooking.” Things were almost normal between them again at the grocery store. They talked, they laughed, they joked. But Sunggyu kept his distance away from Woohyun. He wouldn’t let him get touchy feely anymore. It was like the only time they ever made contact was whenever they woke up and Woohyun was holding him in his sleep.

“Oh, hey. Isn’t this cute?” Woohyun reached out to grab some teddy bear cookie cutters.

“Yeah, I guess... Did you get everything you need?” Sunggyu held out the basket for Woohyun to look through.

“Yeah. We can pay for this and head back.” He dropped the cookie cutter on top.

--

“Jeeze, Woohyun. Did you bring back the entire convenience store?” Myunsoo asked, eyeing the bags on the kitchen counter.

“No. I have to cook for seven guys if you’ve forgotten.” Myungsoo laughed before looking through the bags curiously.

“Come on, Myungsoo. I don’t have all day. Help me wash stuff.”

--

Sunggyu sat on the couch to keep an eye on the kitchen, just in case something went wrong. That was his reasonable excuse. His actual reason was to watch Woohyun dancing around in an apron with a matching bandanna while singing to their songs.

And even though Woohyun could only use one arm, he still out shined anyone else in the kitchen. He tried not to laugh at the orders Woohyun kept barking at Myungsoo. “Jeeze, keep your apron on. I’m one person!” he heard Myungsoo say from the kitchen.

When everything was finished, Myungsoo walked out of the kitchen looking like he fought a war and lost.

“Everyone go wash your hands! Food is almost ready!” The guys scrambled for the bathroom, except for Sunggyu, who’d fallen asleep in front of the TV again.

“Sunggyu. Sunggyu? Food is almost ready,” Woohyun said quietly, nudging him with his foot. Sunggyu suddenly sat up, looking wide eyed at Woohyun for a second before calming down.

“Sorry, did I scare you?”

“No. No.” Sunggyu yawned and rubbed his face before standing up and moving towards the bathroom. “Thanks for making dinner,” he said sleepily, patting Woohyun on the shoulder.

When Sunggyu got back, all the dishes were laid out on their table, and the only sitting space left was next to the cook.

“Okay, guys, let’s eat!” he said as he sat down, arm bumping against Woohyun.

--

All through dinner, their arms kept hitting each other. Sunggyu tried to scoot away from Woohyun to give him more space, but Hoya just kept shoving him back, saying something about needing some space too.

In the end, they ended up consciously avoiding each other’s arms by eating in intervals.

“Did you try this yet?” Woohyun asked, pointing his chopsticks at the dish in front of him. Sunggyu chewed on his food and shook his head, looking at the dish curiously.

Woohyun picked up some food, cupping his hand underneath it. “Say ah!” Sunggyu finished chewing quickly and swallowed before opening his mouth again for Woohyun to feed him. He chewed a few times before nodding in approval.

Woohyun tried not to look too smug.

--

Sunggyu volunteered to do the dishes while the other boys went out for dessert. Woohyun stayed behind though, insisting that he had something else to do. Sunggyu watched him curiously as he flitted around the kitchen, holding a bowl with his hand and his hip.

He didn’t get what he was trying to make until he saw dough.

“Are you making cookies?” Sunggyu asked, drying his hands.

“Yeah. Hand me those cookie cutters will you?”

--

By the time the rest of the boys were back, Sunggyu and Woohyun were sitting on the couch watching TV. The smell of baking cookies reached their nostrils.

“Woohyun, are you making cookies? They smell amazing.”

“They’re for tomorrow. But I guess you guys can have a few today after they cool off.”

--

When the cookies were done, Woohyun took them out of the oven and smiled. Teddy bears all around. He let the boys decorate a cookie to eat. Woohyun made his with a little heart on top of overalls.

“Here, Sunggyu. You can have mine. I’m not really that hungry anyway.” Sunggyu stared at the cookie with the heart on it and glanced up at Woohyun, who was turned away to put up the icing.

“Thanks...”

--

When they went to sleep that night, Woohyun was the first one on the floor, arm over his face. There were slight snores coming from him, making Sunggyu chuckle. He must’ve been worn out from practice and all the cooking and baking.

Sunggyu slid into his blankets next to him, watching his sleeping figure for a moment. The teddy bear sitting on his pillow gave him a look of approval before falling forward. Sunggyu scooted closer to Woohyun, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him closer.

“Thanks, Woohyun.”

“You’re welcome,” he mumbled sleepily, taking his arm off of his face and snuggling into Sunggyu’s chest.

“No, I named the bear Woohyun.” Woohyun blinked his eyes for a moment before squinting up at Sunggyu.

“What? Why?”

“So I could hold you every night.” Woohyun shook his hand and dug around for the bear.

“Stupid bear. Why hug it when you have me right here?”
