Jono was going to be doing some schedule shuffling this week, yes. Parents Weekend meant that, unless he wanted to make people run halfway across town just to see what his students had been up to, he was going to be holding his Boards office hours here, while trying to finish everything up early, as he had company of his own to get back to ( Read more... )

Tersa drifted in, holding a picture. "I drew you a picture of my garden," she announced proudly. "Here."

Had she ever met Jono? No. Did she know he was one of Surreal's teachers? Who could say? Did she have a decent crayon drawing of her garden in hand and was holding it out for him? Absolutely.

"That's a very lovely garden," Jonothon replied, smiling as he reached to accept the drawing. It didn't matter that he had no idea who she was. She seemed pleasant, if nothing else, and far less intimidating than most who had traipsed through his door, today.

From somebody who came into his office with a smile and a garden, he could smile back.

"Thank you very much, luv."

"You're welcome," Tersa replied cheerfully, settling down into the chair across his desk. "I like to draw. It makes it easier to find my way through the forest sometimes. Gardens are like maps that way. You need one."

And yet, for what it was worth, Jono seemed to be following along, at least passingly well.

"Am I lost in the forest, do you suppose?"

He glanced down thoughtfully at the drawing, and then turned curious, slightly wary eyes back toward the woman sitting across from him.
